My super-conservative devout Mormon parents (and society in general) have made a lot of progress toward acceptance since I first came out 11 years ago, and I’m genuinely grateful and impressed. But at the same time, I still feel a lot of hurt, and anger, and frustration at how far they (and society) still have to go. Sometimes it can be difficult to find balance between those extremes. It’s been mostly anger this week.
man i used to really not like her. tumblr showed me the way
I felt that last comment
black girls are vulnerable. we have feelings. we dont always care what others think, but what they say can have an affect on us. no one wants to let us live. i can only imagine if my words were on a scale as large as hers, how difficult it would be.
She’s always bashed, criticized, made fun of, and her words and sentiments are almost always dismissed. People look at her and don’t take her seriously and it’s completely unfair.
stop doing things in unison you adorable little jerKs
A thing I love about Gravity Falls is the twins’ personalities are so distinct, you sometimes forget they’re twins. Yet at the same time they will often do ‘twin’ things like move or talk in unison. They’re their own characters yet they are also a set, and that healthy balance is a great characterization.
Filmmakers take note- This five second scene not only fully describes a characters backstory, but the entire reason he acts the way he acts through the film, taking him from a villain to a sympathetic character and justifying a total reversal of his actions in the present. In five seconds, this movie does for the development of a character more than most movies do in two hours. This is why you should be studying Disney and Pixar along with Martin Scorsese and Stanley Kubrick, and ignoring professors and elitist students who deride them as “kids stuff.”
wasn’t there a theory that Anton’s childhood cottage is the cottage Remy learned his craft from eavesdropping inside before travelling to Paris, and the recipe he’s tasting really is his mother’s ratatouille?
